Growing up, I loved reading poetry, and my favorite style was Limerick. Probably due to their historically inappropriate nature. But I enjoy the style and work to add my own twist.
Here you will find the food related Limericks that became a weekly postcard series I sent out.
I fell in love with the Haiku in Junior High during our poetry unit. If I'm being completely transparent - there is a small insecure part of me in this 6'3" frame that wonders what people think of me writing poetry - and Haiku. Let's just say I've never been invited to a bar to
hang out with "the guys." Here you will find poems that fit the format, but not necessarily the subject of the traditional Haiku - again - making it my own.
The poems found here are individual silly poems designed for the 7 year-old me. The boy who struggled a bit with desiring to read - at least things that were not silly and funny. Dr. Suess, Shel Silverstein, and Richard Scarry were my favorites - with some Judy Blume, Beverly Cleary, and Jan Lööf thrown in.
